You need to look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, “Am I drinking alcohol too much?” Nobody ever wants to deal with this question. And the next question: “Am I hooked on recreational drugs or prescription medications?” If you live alone, the temptation to have more than one alcoholic drink a day is an easy habit. We fall into drugs for deep psychological reasons that need serious medical treatment. Your longevity depends on your “choice” to do something about it.
Limit yourself to no more than one alcoholic drink a day. You are the only one that can change that habit. A healthy substitute trick is to add ice to my drink which keeps my glass full at all times and gives me the water I need to dilute the alcohol in my system. I even pour beer over ice. It’s great trick at parties as we have a tendency to drink too much in some social situations. In many cases, if you are involved with volunteering, taking a Pilates mat class or experimenting in Photoshop, you are a busy person and will find that need which comes often in loneness or in boredom, might completely go away.
Very late one night my neighbor called and asked me to meet her at another neighbor’s house, ASAP. She had gotten a message from this gal who was recently divorced, that she had taken a handful of sleeping pills. We ran over there and banged on the door, about to call #911 when she opens to the door. She had been drinking and didn’t remember making the call. Fortunately, she realized she needed help.
Alcohol and drugs are the worst substances for your face!
Both substances dehydrate your body. Because the liver wants to detox the alcohol first, it doesn’t get to detox the fats, leaving us with the fat collection around our waist. Alcohol affects hormones that regulate a sense of satiety, making you hungry, so you eat more adding more calories to your daily intake. If you just cut out alcohol from your diet, not only will your face look better, so will your body. And if you cut out salt and foods with preservatives, you will drop more weight, fast. And of course, no smoking!
Here again I ask for you to take a good look at yourself and remember, again: The best investment is in yourself!
