Something sweet, delicious and low in sugar. ”
When it’s raining or chilly outside, even mid-afternoon coffee treat…I go for a thin slice of toasted dark grain bread with a teaspoon of a natural fruit spread by MOUNTAIN FRUIT CO. in Chico, CA. Only 4g of sugar in one tbsp. which is half the sugar content compared to most jams. And only 5g carbs.
The fruit is thick and wholesome and not too sweet. You taste whole fresh fruit. The Rhubarb & Berry is my favorite. And they have an amazing Always Apricot. You can find it on many market shelves, especially your smaller, independent markets.
I also serve it as an after dinner treat over a slice of French Brie and then topped with chopped toasted almonds. The brie is creamy, the jam a little sweet and the nuts crunchy…..can’t miss!
Note: Because of the low sugar content, this jam must be refrigerated and consumed with-in two weeks. What I do is put 1/3 into a smaller container or jar and freeze the original. Scoop out as needed.
