The Life-Changing Magic of TidyingUp: The Japanese Art Of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo
NOLA’S RATING: *****
Was so delighted to read, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, by Marie Kondo, a Japanese cleaning consultant who takes tidying to a whole new level. She has one really good, important point: “If you tidy a little a day, you’ll be tidying forever! But a tidying marathon doesn’t cause rebound”. And more of her words, “ If you tidy up in one shot…you can dramatically change your mindset…affecting your thinking and your lifestyle habits.” She is another hero of mine. If you can’t let go of stuff and need organizational skills, you need to read this book! It’s easy to read, funny and so true.
The personal satisfaction and this exterior cleansing is the beginning of cleaning our life of unwanted, negative behaviors and opening the mind to making better choices about out health, about our looks, about what we wear and what we put into our mouths. We need to relearn and retrain and rethink, having a living space that’s less congested and uncluttered allows our brain to see our choices more clearly. It’s no wonder that Marie’s book has sold over two million copies, her title says it all: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.
This book makes a perfect gift to that someone who can’t throw anything out or that “messy” person in your life.
